Local Scholarships
The Stockton Branch awards several scholarships annually to female graduates of San Joaquin Delta College transferring to a four-year college.Scholarship applicants apply directly through the Delta College financial aid office.
Tech Trek Math and Science Camp
Seventh-grade girls are selected through an application and interview process to attend AAUW’s math and science camp at a major university in California for one week during the summer. We fully fund each attendee, who spends a week living the college life and being exposed to science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). For more information about Tech Trek, contact us! STEM Trek Mentor Program
Girls who participate in this group have attended Tech Trek camp and have a continued interest STEM subjects. Branch member mentors offer leadership, support, and information about college and continuing opportunities in math and science. The group has participated in dozens of projects focused on college admission, cultural pursuits, and fun new experiences. An annual rummage sale funds these activities.
Speech Trek
Prompted by an AAUW’s research report, Where the Girls Are: The Facts About Gender Equity in Education, 2008-2009, Speech Trek encourages high-school participants to discuss whether the success of women and girls in the educational arena has been at the expense of boys, causing them to be seen as the disadvantaged gender in education. The winner statewide presents her speech at the AAUW-CA convention.
National Scholarships
Stockton Branch fundraisers and individual contributions support the AAUW Funds, which provide educational opportunities and equity for woman and girls through research and support of fellowship and grants programs, including International Fellowships, American Fellowships, Selected Professions Fellowships and Research and Projects Grants.
